Into the Infinite – an ancient Chinese poem

Rise to the joyous clouds

Hardly does man sense

What is meant by boundlessness

Good and evil are requited

Be it sooner or late.

Wherefore do Earth’s children strive

Perversely after goods and power?

Everything is foreordained.

Not until the end do they perceive

The great delusion.

 

 

I saw this poem published in English on a now-closed website http://www. spiritechvirtualfoundation.org in 2001, and the source of the original Chinese is unknown to me. I now attempt to translate it back into Chinese as follows:

 

 

探访无限

 

跃升到快乐的云端

人很难感知到

无限意味着什么

善恶是要受到报偿的

获迟或早

为什么呀,地球之子

这样倔强执拗地为了利益和权力而奋斗

一切都是前定的

直到最后,他们识破洞穿了

这一场伟大的幻妄
